Martijn Lagrand

Co-founder

Martijn Lagrand has worked in testing since 2007 and has run his own test automation and test consultancy firm since 2018 (Lagrand ICT B.V.). As a test automation engineer he regularly replaces outdated test implementations with modern open-source frameworks. At DELA he phased out TOSCA across several teams: the Online team moved to Playwright, and Output Management now works with RestAssured.Net. The Transition and Migration team already ran a Playwright framework, which he extended and professionalised further.

He builds automation from the ground up just as readily. At Rabobank he joined a team with no test automation at all, set up a complete suite in CodeceptJS, and coached that same team as Scrum Master. Writing the automation scripts became a fixed part of every user story, so that testing was no longer a separate track but a core part of how the team worked.

Not all of his work can be captured in numbers. At the Dutch Tax Administration he tested, for the Childcare Benefits Recovery team, the calculation rules that determined each case's compensation for those affected, and the export to the system that set the payment in motion. Technically it was modest work, but at the end of every calculation stood someone who had been wrongly branded a fraudster and had waited far too long for compensation. A small part in a large recovery operation, and one he remains fittingly proud of.
